If you have previously developed motion picture film you'd like transferred to another format we offer some of the best services available. If you want to read our resident expert's tutorial on what makes a good quality transfer, follow this link. If you need your film developed, please visit our Old Movie Film Developing Information section.
Our 8mm and Super 8 transfers are top quality and comparable with the best transfers available. Our16mm film transfers are of average quality and at a reasonable price. If a top quality 16mm transfer is required we are happy to give referrals.
When clients supply small reels, they are not spliced onto larger reels (which is common with most transfer providers). Each reel becomes its own chapter title or digital file. The client is encouraged to number the reels in the order they wish their film to be transferred. Chapter titles or file names up to 18 characters can be supplied with each reel as well.
With all options, film is cleaned before transfer. Cleaning will remove the worst of the dirt but usually some will still remain.
Minor damage to film is repaired without additional charge. If damage is more severe the client will be contacted and quoted as to the cost of the repair before the transfer proceeds.
Color correction is done digitally following projection/recording. Color correction is virtually frame accurate and applied when moderate to extreme color shifts occur. New corrections are not applied for minor shifts and very short scenes with any transfer option. Color correction is subjective and severely altered colors may only be able to be corrected so much. If color shift is very extreme, film can be converted to black and white.

When a customer requests multiple 50' reels onto individual dvds (as opposed to different chapters on a single dvd) there is a service charge of $8.00 per DVD for materials and extra labor.
For those wishing to edit their movie footage on a computer using an editing program (IE Windows Movie Maker, Avid, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, Final Cut, Vegas, etc.) we offer several options for transferring your footage. For PC customers we recommend AVI files, and for MAC/Apple users MOV files.
We would also encourage our clients to take advantage of these options for backup purposes as well. This will allow you to have a digital version of your movies that can be transferred to other formats at a later date or be used to make copies.
PLEASE NOTE: That although home editing is becoming more and more accessible and user friendly all the time, there can still be the odd issue with compatibility. We do our best to provide support and problems are rare but we can't always be responsible for every issue. For those in doubt, we suggest you stay with the basic DVD.

1. Transfers of 10 or fewer 50' reels can be supplied on data DVDs. Transfers longer than 20 minutes will be spanned to multiple data DVDs, including instructions to reconstruct the files on your computer. For more than 10 reels, a hard drive is required for transfer. We prefer customers supply their own blank hard drive for Mac or PC. Clients who ask us to supply the hard drive will be charged a premium on top of our actual cost. Cost and model availability of hard drives are subject to change.
2. AVIs are converted from HD MOVs, which are the native format of our Apple computers. To save money and choose your own codec and settings, PC users might consider opting for the MOV option and, do their own conversion to AVI.
3. This option intended for those wishing to do their own import to computer and all post-production.

Or, if you previously had us transfer your films to DVD and discover that the sequence you originally indicated is incorrect. Since we keep backups of all transfers to DVD, it is a fairly simple matter to re-record your order back onto our hard drive, reorganize the reels/chapters and then make another DVD.
